Nature Of Work The Town of Leesburg Department of Utilities is seeking an entry level or senior engineer to review water and sanitary sewer development plans and permits, perform water and sewer modeling, and enhance the department's Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The Department of Utilities operates 2 treatment plants and maintains 217 miles of water lines and 171 miles of sewer lines. The successful candidate will review water and sewer plans and permits for conformance to standards and to ensure that quality infrastructure is accepted into the Town's system. The candidate will also evaluate the impacts of development and emergency scenarios using Infowater and Infosewer software. Duties also include construction engineering review during the construction phase of development and office oversight of GIS data collection and database development. The candidate occasionally provides engineering support for water and sewer capital planning. Required Qualifications Utilities Engineer: $54.244-$92,869 * Bachelors of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience * One or more years' experience in design or construction of civil engineering projects * Must have a valid driver's license and safe driving record OR Senior Utilities Engineer: $63,976-$109,528 * Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, and four to six years' experience in civil engineering work, or an equivalent combination of accepted education and experience that would provide the minimum required knowledge, skills, and abilities to carry out the position * Must have a valid driver's license and safe driving record Preferred Qualifications Utilities Engineer: * Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineering in Training (EIT) Certificate * Two or more years' experience in design or construction of civil engineering projects * Bilingual in English/Spanish OR Senior Utilities Engineer: * Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology with an emphasis in Hydraulic Engineering * Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineering in Training (EIT) certificate * Bilingual in English/Spanish What you'll discover....
