The State Ethics Commission is an independent state agency that administers and civilly enforces the provisions of the conflict of interest and financial disclosure laws. The mission of the Commission is to foster integrity in public service in state, county and local government, to promote the public's trust and confidence in that service, and to prevent conflicts between private interests and public duties. The Commission strives to accomplish this mission by conducting educational programs, providing clear and timely advice, and fairly and impartially interpreting and enforcing the conflict of interest and financial disclosure laws. The part-time Contract Receptionist performs duties related to front-desk operations and reports to the Chief Financial Officer/Director of Human Resources and Administration. Duties and Responsibilities: * Greet office visitors in a professional, friendly and hospitable manner * Answer telephone calls in a professional, friendly and hospitable manner; log and track calls; and forward calls and messages as necessary * Enter all advice requests made by telephone into the Commission's case management system (ETHOS) * Respond to in person and telephone inquiries concerning statements of financial interests * Track and report online training support calls * Provide first level support for online training programs * Keep the reception desk area and conference rooms clean and organized * Receive, distribute and account for all incoming/outgoing mail and packages * Perform such other duties as directed by the Chief Financial Officer/Director of Human Resources and Administration Qualifications: * 2-3 years of employment or volunteer experience dealing with the public (customer service, front desk, retail or other similar industry). B.A./B.S. may substitute for up to 2 years of experience * Excellent spoken and written communication skills * A professional demeanor and a friendly and helpful attitude * Strong customer service orientation and solid interpersonal communication skills * Ability to maintain and handle confidential materials on a routine basis * Strong organizational skills and attention to detail * Ability to work with all levels of the organization effectively and efficiently, and to be a team player Comments: The part-time Contract Receptionist is required to work 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (7.5 hours) every Friday that the Commission is open and must be available to work additional hours Monday through Thursday on an as-needed basis (7.5 ? 37.5 hours per week). Pursuant to the Massachusetts General Laws, contract employees are not paid for holidays on which they do not work, do not receive paid vacation or personal leave benefits, and do not contribute to the state retirement system or social security. State contract employee are required to participate in direct deposit and to contribute to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' state alternate retirement plan ("OBRA Plan"). This contract position is funded from the Commonwealth's annual operating budget until June 30, 2019. Continuation of this contract position beyond June 30, 2019 will depend on the needs and preferences of the agency and upon funding availability and approval.
