Distribution Clerk Child Welfare Information Gateway Fairfax, VA Job Description The Distribution Team provides basic services and program support for Child Welfare Information Gateway (Clearinghouse) and the Children's Bureau (client) in the areas of publications storage and dissemination, fulfillment services and conference support. You will perform the tasks that provide the following services. Key Responsibilities: The mission of the Distribution Team is to ensure fulfillment requests are picked accurately and that orders are correct, complete and shipped within contract requirements. Events such as conferences and meetings are time sensitive and materials must be delivered within a specific window of time. Major responsibilities of the Distribution Team include: * Process daily fulfillment of customer publication requests * Provide material support for child welfare conferences and for client meetings * Prepare and process bulk mailings of behalf of the client * Process and track shipping invoices * Manage product inventory and assist project teams in product-inventory related decision making. As a member of the Distribution Team: * Pick, pack and ship publication orders in fulfillment of daily requests within three business days of receipt for typical requests * Prepare, pack and ship publications, exhibits and display materials to support 75, or more, conferences annually * Perform mailings of publications and promotional materials to groups targeted by the Marketing and Outreach Manager * Produce, collate and meter products for mailing Challenges of the Position: All of the distribution activities are deadline driven. The tasks described above; fulfillment, conference support and targeted mailings, are in progress concurrently and priorities are subject to change on short notice. Basic Qualifications: * High School Diploma or equivalent, higher education is a plus. * 1 years' experience * Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite software products. * Ability to lift 40 pounds Preferred Experience: * Mail processing or mailing house operations * Mail order fulfillment * Inventory management in a retail or warehouse environment * Logistics support for event management Personal Qualities: * You should possess the ability to communicate with others in a courteous and business-like manner and able to articulate subject matter and technical issues to a variety of audiences. * Attention to detail is also required. Type and Amount of Client Contact: * Direct client contact is rare in this position and when it occurs, it is generally limited to an email request for a specific product. Reporting Structure: * You will report directly to the Distribution Manager of Child Welfare Information Gateway and interact frequently with members and supervisors of the Marketing & Outreach and Customer Services Teams. * You may also provide mail handling and mailing services for other projects as required.
